Dear Candidate,

Welcome to the admission portal

KGS is now open for applications to our high achieving A Level programme that is designed to appeal to students who are academically gifted, self motivated, intellectually curious and open to a challenge.

KGS has a long and successful record in preparing students for the next step in their academic career. We know you need outstanding grades, and we can help you to realize your potential. We are here to educate you and push you onto higher order thinking skills.  We are not a tuition centre that promises exam answers and fills your learning with facts and figures, you have AI for that.  Indeed if all that interests you is an exam syllabus then you should not apply to our school. KGS is an outstanding holistic learning experience that is lived every day and seeks that is students are driven and motivated to attend the best courses and Universities, whether in Pakistan or globally.  Our record is second to none.

Before you complete the requirements in this portal, please remember that you have chosen the most competitive entry point to the school. Last year, successful candidates had at least 5 A* grades at O level, most had n 9 or 10 A* grades. If your predicted grades are in this range then do please apply, but if you are getting predictions that are less than these then you are going to be disappointed.

Make sure you read the student learning and student experience information on the website before you start to apply. Our student learning programme of 4 A Levels plus a further skill-based subject is very rigorous and unique. It delivers more than you need to go to university but it will give you an edge over others if you aspire to apply to the best higher education institutions in the world. It will make huge demands upon your time. If that excites you, you are welcome to apply.

We are seeking the most talented students, regardless of financial background. Be assured that if you are an outstanding candidate, finances will not be hindrance to your application. We provide many scholarships, up to 100% in some cases. Full details of this scheme will be available for those who reach the interview stage.

Finally, for those that do apply, we know that many excellent candidates will have to be turned away, such is the strength of the competition, so I wish you well whatever alternative you find and wherever your life takes you.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Carl P.Lander - RSci, Ed.D (h.c.), FCCT

Subject Selection and Policies

Before filling out this section please review the following documents:
i.Requirements for Selecting Subjects (Point # 14 of Important Information).
    ii.Subject Requirements for Universities.

All students are expected to study 4 A Level subjects in First Year A Level (FY) and a fifth subject from Block E, as we would rather applicants manage a range of differing academic subjects and develop a broader base before moving into the second year of A Level.

Dropping the 4th fourth subject in the Second Year of A Level will be allowed, after the approval of the College Head.

Students will be allowed to study their subject(s) of choice based on meeting the minimum O Level prerequisite.

I wish my son/daughter/ward , whose particulars are given in section 2, to be admitted to the FY-A Level of Karachi Grammar School, for the academic year starting August 2026. I would like him/her to study the following 4 subjects in addition to 1 compulsory subject chosen from Block E.

Blocks Subjects
A
B
C
D
E

Subjects with an asterisk(*) have important information detailed below:

  • In order to take Biology, Chemistry or Physics at the A Level, students are required to have studied that subject at the O Level/IGCSE with a high grade of achievement.
  • For Further Mathematics, it is necessary to also choose Mathematics in Block C. Also, a high grade in O Level Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Physics is essential for Further Mathematics.
  • Students who have chosen Computer Science as a Core subject are strongly advised not to choose Coding in Block E.
  • Students who have chosen Literature in English as a Core subject cannot opt for Language & Literature in Block E. Furthermore, to enrol in Literature in English at the A Level, students must have achieved a high grade in the subject at the O Level/IGCSE. Those who have not studied Literature in English at the O Level/IGCSE will need to undergo an assessment before being admitted to the Literature in English course.
  • Students who have chosen CIPQ or GPR in Block E must select an alternative (second choice) as seats are limited and placement is by selection. Unlike other Option E subjects which run for two years, CIPQ and GPR are one-year courses.
  • There is an additional cost for GPR, Media Studies and CIPQ. Students must pay the ‘Turnitin’ licence fee for the duration of the course.
  • Students who select Media Studies are required to attend a mandatory one-week summer workshop.
  • The school reserves the right to determine eligibility for enrolment in any subject.
